Smoked on Depot was created to bring proper American BBQ to both locals and visitors in Dubbo, NSW.
We are a locally owned, independent smokehouse focused on doing one thing well, low ’n slow BBQ. We don’t try to be everything to everyone. Our focus is flavour, consistency and creating a relaxed, family-friendly environment.
Our venue is a renovated 1900s brick building, carefully restored to reflect the character of an authentic American smokehouse, industrial, casual and designed for a shared eating experience.
Owner Bart Shanks, who previously operated a successful local bakery business, has turned his attention to building the same trusted reputation in the smokehouse space. Bart was hands-on throughout the entire renovation, onsite for every concrete pour, standing frames, fix-out and paint stage. The building and landscaping were a genuine passion project, ultimately shaping the smokehouse we have today.
Every table was built by Bart using local trades and suppliers, reflecting our commitment to supporting local business and industry.
Bart’s brother Joe, a carpenter by trade, oversaw much of the structural work, alongside other family members who contributed throughout the build. Smoked on Depot is a local family business, extending genuine hospitality to everyone who walks through our doors.
